Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3is set to be the 2023 entry in the long-running first-person shooter franchise according to multiple leaks, though there has been no official confirmation as of this writing. 2022’sModern Warfare 2planted multiple seeds for what players may see in the campaign, namely the hunt for Makarov and the fate of General Shepherd. The latest leak forModern Warfare 3comes courtesy of Twitter user Metaphor, a content creator and longtimeWarzoneplayer, who shared alleged information about the newWarzonemap coming with the new entry. Metaphor describes the alleged map as taking more inspiration from the original Verdansk map, as opposed to Caldera or Al Mazrah, with a more urban design and emphasis on building-to-building combat. In addition, they reiterated a previous leak about the map suggesting it will feature aspects of previous multiplayer maps such asCountdown and Overwatch.

If Metaphor’s leak proves to be true, it would be the second map in a row to lean back into the original urban-style combat experience seen whenWarzonelaunched. The most recent map, Vondel, arrived inSeason 4 ofModern Warfare 2and dropped players into an area which took clear inspiration from Amsterdam between the architecture and grid-like waterways. Metaphor then adds that, given the apparent size of the new map, they wouldn’t be surprised if matches end up being able to support up to 150 players at launch.

Players won’t have to wait much longer to learn more about what the nextCall of Dutyhas in store, with Season 5 and in-game reveal set to go live on June 01, 2025.
