Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2confirms a significant change coming to the game’s third-person mode based on feedback received during the game’s multiplayer beta test.Call of Dutyfans were given the opportunity to play theCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2multiplayer last month, battling it out on select maps and trying some of the game’s new modes. They were also able to testModern Warfare 2’s third-person feature, which is one of the game’s most surprising additions.

While it’s safe to say that the majority ofCall of Dutyplayers are going to stick with the first-person viewpoint, there are those who may prefer playing games in third-person, especially if they invest in some of the pricier skins. The reaction toModern Warfare 2’s third-person modeseemed to be mostly positive during the beta, though one common complaint centered on how the game handled ADS, or aiming down sights.

During theModern Warfare 2multiplayer beta, aiming down sights caused the game to switch from third-person to first-person. Some players found this disorienting, and others felt as though it ruined the purpose of a third-person mode. In response to this feedback, it’s been confirmed that ADS will only switch to first-person when players are using guns equipped with a 4x scope or higher. This was confirmed on the officialCall of DutyInstagram account, and fans can expect this change to be implemented when theModern Warfare 2multiplayer goes live on October 28.

The Instagram post included some other information about theCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2multiplayer’s third-person mode, like how players can swap shoulders to help peek around corners and how they can adjust the game’s field of view to suit their needs. Thelack of a Field of View slider on consoleshas been hugely controversial in pastCall of Dutygames, so fans will be happy to see that it’s noted to be coming to both PC and consoles this time around.

Call of Dutyfans will have to wait for October 28 to try the changes made toModern Warfare 2’s third-person mode, but some will be able to play the campaign a lot sooner than that. Anyone that pre-orders the digital version of the game canplay theModern Warfare 2campaign early, on October 20. This should give fans plenty of time to play through the story and warm up for the big multiplayer debut next week.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2launches October 28 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
