In recent years, Activision has waited longer than usual to reveal the nextCall of Dutygame, possibly to avoid taking attention away from its current product. That pattern changed this year withCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which Activision announced months earlier than it didBlack Ops Cold WarandVanguard. So far,Call of Dutyfans have seen theModern Warfare 2campaign and little else, and it seems like they will be waiting longer than expected to get a full-blown multiplayer reveal.
Previous rumors have suggested that theCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2multiplayer revealwas already supposed to happen, while others have said that the multiplayer will be showcased at some point in August. However, leaker Tom Henderson, writing for Try Hard Guides, has now said that theCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2multiplayer reveal will now happen at some point in the beginning of September, to be followed shortly by the beta.

Henderson pointed out that this would actually be consistent with howCall of Dutymultiplayer reveals have happened with the last couple of games in the series, as Activision waited until September to pull the curtain back onBlack Ops Cold WarandVanguardmultiplayer. As for the beta, Henderson believes that theCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2multiplayer beta will happen in mid-September, shortly after the reveal, based on what their sources have told them.
Other leakers besides Henderson have also claimed that theModern Warfare 2multiplayer beta date would be some time in September, though a previous leak suggested that it would actually take place much earlier than expected. AnAmazon leakled fans to believe that theModern Warfare 2multiplayer beta would be happening in August, but it seems fans shouldn’t hold their breath that they’ll get to play the game that early.
Whenever theModern Warfare 2multiplayer beta does take place, fans can count on PlayStation gamers having early access. Even though Microsoft is in the process of acquiringCall of Dutypublisher Activision, the deals with PlayStation remain in effect, includingtimed-exclusivity for someCall of Dutycontentlike betas.
As for what theModern Warfare 2multiplayer beta will entail, that remains to be seen. There have been some substantial leaks aboutModern Warfare 2multiplayer mapsand the like that give fans a pretty good idea of what to expect from the final product, but it’s impossible to say at this point which of those maps will be featured in the beta.
