Summary

Bosch: Legacywas a massive success for Amazon Freevee when it debuted back in 2022, with the spin-off featuring some new and old characters and brand-new cases for Harry Bosch to solve. Since Bosch left the LAPD under a cloud at the end of the originalBoschseries, he has had the freedom to do certain things as a private investigator that he wouldn’t get away with when he was representing the law. However, this has also left him a bit hamstrung without access to the resources of the LAPD.

This is where Maurice ‘Mo’ Bassi came in at the start ofBosch Legacyseason 1 to assist with Bosch’s new operations. Harry Bosch has always been a bit of a techno-phobe, choosing to go down the route of old-fashioned police work rather than investigating from his desk using a computer. As a sign on his old desk used to say “Get Off Your Ass And Go Knock On Doors.” However, he’s out on his own now in a world where technology can be the key to solving a case.

This new partnership is helped by the fact that Mo Bassi also loves jazz music and the two men bond over that. However, season 1 saw the genius hacker used sparingly as the returning characters took center stage, but he did provide key information that led to discovering Whitney Vance’s heir to his billions. He was also instrumental in helping Bosch and Chandler in the Carl Rogers matterafter he had hired hitmen to kill the savvy lawyer. Fans were keen to see more of the jazz-loving hacker in Season 2, and they weren’t left disappointed.

What happens to Mo Bassi in Season 2?

Maurice ‘Mo’ Bassi returned forBosch: LegacySeason 2, and he was instrumental in helping Bosch find Maddie, who had been kidnapped. He was able to hack into Kurt Dockweiler’s personal data to reveal he had searched for sedatives that last four to six hours, giving them a search radius of 300 miles. When the FBI started sniffing around Bosch and Chandler, linking them to Carl Rogers' murder, Mo was able to hack into the law firm Chandler works for to discover her assistant, Matthew, was talking to the FBI and feeding them information.

As Season 2 progresses, Mo attends a Hacker’s conference and meets a woman called Jade, who he ends up going on a date with. She is initially cagey with him but later explains that it’s because an ex-boyfriend has been blackmailing her by hacking into her family’s medical records.

Mo learns more about her hacking issue and wants to help her. She tells him the server is only accessible on site at a pharmaceutical company. In Mo’s coolest moment of the season, he dresses up as an inspector and gains access to the building of the company, and copies the security guards' key card, and successfully connects to the company’s system.

Mo has access to the pharmacy files as he continues to help Jade. He is given the option to look at the files, but he decides against it to protect her privacy. When they meet up for a date at a jazz club, Mo gives Jade the flash drive with the files on, which frees her from her psycho ex-boyfriend.

Mo is also helping Bosch with the Lexi Parks case in Season 2, and they both break into the Nguyen brothers' pawn shop, as Bosch has a lead on Lexi’s missing watch. Mo is able to crack the safe, and they discover a DVD, which could hold the key to everything.

Ellis and Long follow Bosch and Mo as they drive back to his place to view the DVD. Ellis speeds up his car and runs them off the road. Bosch and Mo are left unconscious in a ditch off the roadside, and Mo ends up spending time in hospital recovering from his injuries.

Later on, Baron, the lead investigator in the FBI case against Bosch and Chandler, reveals he has another trick up his sleeve when the case hits a stumbling block. Ina plot twist, Jade is revealed to be an undercover agent, who is working Mo to get the information they need to bring Bosch and Chandler down.

The FBI want Jade (aka Janice) to push Mo on what he knows about Bosch and Chandler. Baron says they plan to keep her undercover, and give Mo a lesser sentence if he agrees to co-operate with them.

Jade and Mo have dinner together at his apartment, but he’s getting frustrated at her unwillingness to take the relationship to the next level. Soon after this date, the FBI raid Mo’s apartment and arrest him. They claim Jade is someone who uses hackers to steal corporate secrets, and they will prosecute her unless Mo gives them information on Bosch and Chandler. Mo tells Baron he needs an official deal and a few days to think about whether he wants to proceed.

Jade comes over to get more information out of him, but Mo reveals he knows she’s working undercover. She says she has the flash drive proving Mo hacked the pharmaceutical company, but Mo says the drive had an auto delete function on it, so everything is gone. She tells him she did have feelings for him, and in another life, things could’ve worked out. Mo is hurt by the whole situation and at the end of Season 2, his fate is very much left in the balance heading intoSeason 3 ofBosch: Legacy, which has been officially confirmed.

Bosch: Legacy picks up where the original Bosch series left off, with the titular detective leaving the LAPD and going into business as a private investigator.
