Netflixhas announced that Joesph Gordon-Levitt and Taylour Paige will star alongside comedian Eddie Murphy in the upcoming sequel,Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley.This will be the fourth film in the franchise and will see Murphy reprise his role as the unconventional Detroit cop.

As reported byDeadline, Production on the sequel is underway with Murphy starring and producing. Murphy first portrayed Foley in the firstBeverly Hills Copfilm, which was released in 1984 to wide critical acclaim.Netflixwill release the fourth film in the series.

Paige also recently starred in the Lena Dunham filmSharp Stick,which premiered at the 2022 Sundance film festival. She is also set to appear alongsideGame of ThronesstarPeter Dinklage in theToxic Avengerremake.Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foleywill be directed by Mark Molloy, who is taking over forMs. MarveldirectorsAdil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, who stepped away from the film in April to focus on Warner Bros.' now-cancelledBatgirlmovie.

The firstBeverly Hills Copfilm follows a Detroit cop named Foley who ventures to Beverly Hills to solve his friend’s murder. The first film was a huge hit and spawned two sequels,Beverly Hills Cop IIin 1987 andBeverly Hills Cop IIIin 1994. Murphy reprised his role in bought sequels, however, neither sequel performed as well financially and critically as the original film. Actor and comedian Judge Reinhold starred alongside Murphy in all three films but has not been cast in the new film.TheBeverly Hills Copfranchisewas originally owned by Paramount but made the move to Netflix in 2019.
