With theBattlefield 1player count nowhigher than 21 million, it’s up to publisher Electronic Arts and developer DICE to keep those users engaged well into the holiday season. To help with this goal, a new set of downloadable content, Turning Tides, is going to be made available to players starting at the end of this year.
As the name suggests, thisBattlefield 1DLC will revolve around beachfront assaults and naval clashes. Among the first set of content to arrive as part of Turning Tides is a pair of maps that revolve around the Gallipoli Campaign. Cape Helles will either task players with storming the beaches of the peninsula with British forces or defending as the Ottoman Empire, while Achi Baba will play out as a hilltop offensive, and both maps are due to drop this December.

In January, another two maps will be released for the game. Heligoland Bight will focus on a naval battle between the British and German forces, while Zeebrugge showcases the British raid on the Belgian port of Bruges-Zeebrugge.
It’s not only maps that are arriving as part of Turning Tides, though.Battlefield 1players will also have the British Empire’s Royal Marines as a new faction to coincide with the different campaigns, with the Marines apparently set to drop in January. Meanwhile, there are a host of new weapons, such as the M1917 Trench Carbine, Maschinenpistole M1912/P.16, Farquhar-Hill, M1917 MG, Carcano M91 Carbine, and Type 38 Arisaka, alongside the Naval Cutlass and Grappling Hook as melee weapons.
As well as this, there will also be some new vehicle types, with the L-Class Destroyer ready for those looking to “rule the waves,” while airship fans are in luck with the upcoming release of C-Class Airship, which has room for a pilot and three gunners. All in all, Turning Tides is aiming to deliver a decent level of content for players.
This is far from the first DLC release forBattlefield 1, following on from the release of the likes ofThey Shall Not Passand the Russian expansionIn The Name of the Tsar. Hopefully, Turning Tides will further increase the longevity of the game for those who have been playing it since launch.
Battlefield 1is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The Turning Tides DLC releases its first content in December, 2017.
