As the release date forAssassin’s Creed Originsedges ever closer, with the title due to launch on October 27, long-term fans of the series have been waiting for more details about the game. Thankfully, thoseAssassin’s Creedfans definitely have something to get a better idea about how the latest game in the franchise is shaping up, thanks to a brand newAssassin’s Creed Originsgameplay video.

The gameplay video itself reveals a new side quest for players, detailing specific parts of the mission to showcase exactly whatAssassin’s Creed Originswill have in store. With a set of vital notes being stolen from a cartographer after a robbery, it’s up to the player to scout out the thieves, all the while checking out the world ofOriginsalong the way, with Game Director Ash Ismail discussing how the development team has tried to make the world feel lived in.

After a little sleuthing, including a diversion via a pyramid, theAssassin’s Creed Originsplayer character Bayekeventually finds the bandits that have the stolen items. There, the gameplay video gives a greater idea about the combat mechanics of the game, with the system seeing something of a revamp in comparison to previous games. So far, the expectations forOriginshave been tentative, with even Ubisoft suggesting thatAssassin’s Creed Originswill not sell as well asUnityorBlack Flag. Although this gameplay video is an intriguing look at the world of the game, some would-be players may be put off by the in-development title’s rough edges, such as some awkward facial animations. Of course, there’s still plenty of time beforeOriginssees release, and so Ubisoft could certainly improve these matters.

Like in many of theAssassin’s Creedgames, the reputation ofOriginsmay well rest upon how well the game world is able to immerse players in the overall experience. At the very least, gamers should expect some realism in the game, such as thetombs in-game being based on real life.

ShouldAssassin’s Creed Originslive up to the promise of exploring ancient Egypt with the series' standard gameplay mechanics, then gamers certainly could be in for a treat. However, some may still be a little hesitant to jump on board until seeing a little more of how the game is shaping up.
