Aspyr has just announced that the classicStar WarsgameStar Wars: Bounty Hunteris getting re-released on modern consoles this August. There have been several belovedStar Warsgames over the years, and Aspyr has helped keep them in the public knowledge by bringing them to current systems. Its most recent port wasStar Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection, a compilation of the first twoBattlefrontgames that were released during the time of theStar WarsPrequel Trilogy.
Another classicStar Warsgame of that period wasStar Wars: Bounty Hunter, an action-adventure title that launched a few months afterStar Wars Episode 2: Attack of the Clonesin 2002. Serving as a prequel to that film,Bounty Huntertold the story of Jango Fett, the notorious bounty hunter and father to the equally infamous Boba Fett, and how he was chosen as the genetic template for the Clone Army of the Republic. Players could useJango’s assortment of Mandalorian weaponslike blaster pistols and grappling hooks as they navigated through levels and tracked down bounties for bonus points.

Now modern gamers will be able to strap on Jango Fett’s iconic helmet on August 1, whenStar Wars: Bounty Hunterlaunches on Steam, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Aspyr Media announced this port earlier this week with aStar Wars: Bounty Huntertrailer that shows Jango leaping into action after being contacted byDarth Tyranus (aka Count Dooku)for a dangerous mission that takes him across the galaxy to eliminate a powerful Dark Jedi. Original Jango Fett actor Temuera Morrison can be heard voicing theStar Warsgalaxy’s deadliest bounty hunter.
Star Wars: Bounty Hunter Release Date
Star Wars: Bounty Hunterhas been re-released a few times before this. In 2015, it was included in a collection of classicStar Warsgames that was sold alongside a special edition PlayStation 5 console released to commemorate bothStar Wars BattlefrontandDisney Infinity 3.0. Limited Run Games also released a limited supply ofStar Wars: Bounty Hunterphysical copiesfor the PlayStation 4 in 2019.
Star Wars: Bounty Hunterreceived mixed reviews at the time of its release, but is looked back on more fondly these days for allowing fans to take control of the dreaded Jango Fett in a story that demonstrated why he was the most feared bounty hunter in the universe - until his son Boba came of age, that is. Soon, gamers who didn’t get a chance tostrap on Jango’s Mandalorian jetpackback in 2002 will be able to play this classicStar Warstitle when it re-releases on modern systems on August 1.
