At theCall of DutyXP event in Los Angeles, Activision confirms that all 16 of the originalCall of Duty 4maps will be available inModern Warfare Remastered.

When Activision first announcedCall of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, the game was met with both excitement and confusion. On one hand, fans were excited for a chance to relive one of best games of the last generation with improved graphics, but on the other hand, Activision was making some divisive choices about the game. For example, the decision to makeModern Warfare Remasteredavailable only throughCall of Duty: Infinite Warfarewas controversial, as was the announcement that it would only feature 10 multiplayer maps. While fans will still need to pick up the Legacy Edition ofCall of Duty: Infinite Warfareto get their hands on the remaster, Activision has announced that all ofCall of Duty 4’s 16 maps are getting a facelift now, and will be included in the game.

Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg made the announcement during theCall of DutyXP event in Los Angeles. He also explained that even though all 16Call of Duty 4maps are making a comeback, not all of them will be available at launch. The 10 maps originally confirmed for the remaster will be available on November 4th, with the other six released in December as DLC.

The knee-jerk reaction some might have to this news is that Activision is trying to milk its consumers for more money by selling the rest of the maps as post-launch DLC. On the contrary, all six of the remaining maps will be added to the game as a free update. This move givesModern Warfare Remasteredsome added value and should go a long way in appeasing veteranCall of Dutyfans that are not yet sold on theInfinite Warfareconcept.

So now that fans no longer have to guess which maps will be available to them come November 4th, only one question about the remaster remains: Does it do the original justice? As ourhands-on preview ofModern Warfare Remastered’s multiplayerattests, the revamped classic is an identical gameplay experience to the 2007 original, with the only real differences being the improved graphics and some redesigned menus. Therefore, it’s reasonable to assume that anyone that liked it the first time around will probably find a little bit more to like aboutModern Warfare Remastered.

With hands-on sessions of the game at theCall of DutyXP event being mostly positive and all 16 originalCall of Duty 4maps coming toModern Warfare Remasteredinstead of the10 maps promised before, it’s fair to say that fans have good reason to be excited. Even if some remain unconvinced thatInfinite Warfareis theCall of Dutyexperience they want, it seems likeModern Warfare Remasteredmay end up being worth the price of admission by itself.

Call of Duty: Infinite WarfareandModern Warfare Remasteredwill be available on November 4th for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
